Ynov, teaching digital design

Context

Ynov, an unusual and historic place to learn.

As part of the Creation & Digital Design bachelor’s programme, I taught first- and second-year students an interface design module and several Figma workshop modules.

Interface design module
Structured in 8 parts (Defining UX/UI design and its different aspects, The notion of Design System, The guidelines of a Design System, The components of a Design System #1, The components of a Design System #2, The wireframe, UX/UI methods and means, Design tips)

Figma workshop
Workshops on a promotional landing page for a film, an app sign-up/log-in flow, an e-commerce carousel... Teaching the different steps of building a prototype in a hands-on setting.

Example of the prototype assignments
Course slides: the notion of Design System, interface design, guidelines
Slide: a Design System is made up of several key elements

Formalising and passing on a design approach

Teaching interface design means giving students the methods and tools to move from understanding UX/UI principles to designing concrete prototypes. Through a structured module and hands-on Figma workshops, I guided students as they discovered components, Design Systems and the steps involved in creating an interface.
